or do we only think we know Him ?
I believe the honest answer is “no”!
We will never fully know Him, and even throughout eternity we will never exhaust Him!
But we will always have the immense privilege of knowing that He will be there at our side to sustain us and to let us see His glory.
The problem here on earth, however, is the lack of knowledge of God; it is one of the causes of sin! The Christian life is a walk in the knowledge of God, not only theoretical, but relational and practical.
It is time to come to our senses, as Paul says in 1 Cor. 15:34: “Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.”
Sin is always a real scourge in our assemblies because of the cruel lack of knowledge of God.
John 17:3 reminds us: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
The emphasis is always on the knowledge of God—not just knowing that He exists, but knowing His will for us each day He gives us!
This eternal life begins from the moment you recognize Christ as your Savior, when you repent and decide to walk with Him in all honesty and faithfulness.
1 John 5:13: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
What a beautiful assurance; we are already beginning here and now this life that will never end!
How grateful we should be to our Creator for this!
“This is what the Lord says: ‘Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord.”(Jeremiah 9:23–24)
Let us seek His face and His will every day; let us acknowledge our weakness and ignorance, and lean on His Word which reveals Him to us and shows us His greatness!
Psalm 50:21: “When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you. Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you.”
Too often, people imagine God in their own image or thoughts. But God is holy and just, and His Word comes to confront our illusions and bring us back to Him.
My friends, the Word of God has a practical application in our daily life! Let us put it into practice, knowing that He will always be there to help us in this walk.
To know God is not just an intellectual notion, it is:
-
Walking in humility and repentance.
-
Living eternal life now in Christ, with the assurance of salvation.
-
Boasting only in God, by seeking His face and His will day after day.
May this pursuit become our daily priority, for God reveals Himself to those who love Him and put their trust in Him.
With love, Franz
