Your Life is not a mistake...

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” — Jeremiah 1:5

“Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written all the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” — Psalm 139:16

There are people who have gradually come to believe that they were never meant to be loved. After so many failures, rejections, abandonments, wrong decisions, and painful wounds, they look back on their past and tell themselves, “My life is a failure. God can no longer do anything with me.”

But listen carefully to this: Your past has never taken God by surprise.

  • Before you stumbled, He knew you. Before you made your mistakes, He saw you. Even before you could speak His name, He already knew yours.

Perhaps people have placed a label on you. Perhaps you have even condemned yourself. But God does not look only at who you have been. He also sees what His grace can still make of you.

Do not believe that the most painful years of your life are necessarily wasted years.

God can enter the ruins of a broken life and bring forth something new.

The wound you carry can become a source of compassion. Your shame can become a testimony. Your fall can teach you how to lift up someone else who has fallen.

The one who has experienced rejection can become someone who welcomes others.

The one who has been broken can understand another person's pain with a depth that others may never know.

God does not justify the evil we have suffered, nor the wrong we ourselves have committed. But when a heart turns back to Him, He is able to redeem even the chapters of our lives that we cannot erase.

  • This is precisely what the cross reminds us of: Jesus does not come looking for perfect lives, but for lives willing to surrender themselves into His hands.

So do not remain lying where you have fallen.

Rise up!

Not because you are strong, but because Christ is able to lift you up.

Do not let your past have the final word. Do not allow guilt to become your identity. Do not let the enemy whisper to you, “It's over for you.”

With Jesus, condemnation can give way to a new beginning, an inner prison can be opened, and a heart of stone can become a heart of flesh again.

You may not be able to change yesterday, but today you can place your life into God's hands.

And if you truly open your heart to Him, He can turn your story into something far greater than a monument to your failures: a living testimony of His grace.

A Prayer

Lord Jesus, I give You everything I can no longer carry on my own: my past, my wounds, my failures, my regrets, and my fears.

I cannot turn back time, but I believe that Your grace can still write the next chapter of my life.

Lift me up, restore me, and make my life an outstretched hand to those who are suffering.

May those who meet me see not only my scars, but discover through them the power of Your love.

I am not my past.

I am in Your hands. And as long as I am in Your hands, my story is not over.

Amen.
