...of the calling you have received!
This exhortation from Paul in Ephesians 4:1 should in fact become a natural way of living following our conversion to God, who, through His plan of salvation for humanity, has shown His great love for us! John 3:16
Our God took the initiative to save us and did not hesitate to send Jesus Christ to die on the cross in our place! If we have truly understood this undeserved grace, what response worthy of such an incredible act can we offer?
We can already be thankful every day for this, but beyond that, God also expects from us a change in our behavior in our relationship with Him, with ourselves, and with the people around us.
The Holy Spirit works in us in several areas: spiritual, moral, existential, and practical.
He gradually leads us to adopt a different way of life, one that will be noticeable, because every choice in our life will reflect our understanding of our calling! There must be consistency between the call, our inner convictions, and our actions.
However, being worthy does not mean being perfect, but being in harmony with what we have received!
Worthiness may be understood as faithfulness, responsibility, and a way of living.
What does Paul mean by the word “calling”?
To walk according to our calling means: belonging to God, being aware that we are now united with other Christians who walk in holiness and respond to the call to serve.
I believe that we are all called to serve, so let us do it with all our hearts. Each of us has personal gifts—let us place them at the service of the Lord!
In verses 2 and 3, Paul explains how to walk worthily: with gentleness, humility, patience, bearing with one another, and seeking the unity of the Spirit. Here we find again the "fruit of the Spirit". Galatians 5:22
We can apply this goal to today:
-- Walking worthily at work.
-- Walking worthily in the family.
-- Walking worthily on social media.
-- Walking worthily in conflicts.
Let us honestly ask ourselves this question: **does my life correspond to what I have been called to?**
This invites us to:
-- Objective self-examination
-- Maturity and wisdom to be sought. (Ask and you will receive...Matthew 7:7)
-- Continuous growth with the help of the Holy Spirit
May the Almighty Lord help us in this endeavor so that we may be “worthy” of this calling that He addresses to each and every one of us! God takes us seriously, so let us know how to respond worthily to this call!!!
